Dexter is one of the best shows on the box. Period!
And Season 5 is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. The fact our uber - talented Maria Doyle Kennedy has joined the hit show only adds to the appeal.
Maria plays lovable Irish nanny Sonya who Dexter hires to look after his son Harrison. And although Maria hadn't ever watched the series before being on it, She was over the moon to get the gig because t meant she got to act with Michael C Hall.
Speaking exclusively to TVNOW, Maria told me, "I actually hadn't seen the show before I was offered the part but I was a big fan of Michael's acting, especially on Six Feet Under.
Working on Dexter was my first experience of acting in the US and as first times go, it probably couldn't have been better.
It can be nerve-wracking to join a show that's already been running successfully for a few years but the cast and crew were very welcoming to me."
Although airing in the States last year, Season 5 in currently getting it's first outing here Friday nights on FX and Maria said the reaction has bee great from Irish viewers. "Now that the show has started running here, I've had a lot of folks on Twitter wanting to know what happens," revealed Maria. Perhaps she'll tell me?
"Isupose I could... But then I'd probably have to kill you," She laughed. Guess I'll just have to keep watching then.
